Hike & Daily Routine

  • Day 1

    Brig - Ried-Brig

Individual journey to Brig. Take a walk to Naters to visit the ossuary. In Glis, the Church of Our Lady on the Glisacker is worth a visit. Explore the old town of Brig and walk past the Stockalper Castle up to Ried-Brig.

  • Day 2

    Ried-Brig - Simplon Pass

Hike along the Way of the Cross to the Mother of God Chapel on the Burgspitz. After the descent back to the village, head towards the Stockalperweg. Cross many bridges and hike next to the mountain stream deep into the Taferna valley. Now the ascent begins towards the Simplon Pass. As soon as the golden eagle greets you, it is not far to the hospice.

  • Day 3

    Simplonpass - Simplon Dorf

Next to the former hospice “alter Spittel” and the striking Barralhaus, you hike in the direction of Simplon village. Numerous wayside crosses and wayside shrines line the path. In Simplon village, visit the parish church, the Ecomuseum “alter Gasthof”, the Arnold bakery and the alpine dairy.

  • Day 4

    Simplon Dorf - Gondo

You reach Gondo on two different routes. In “Gabi” you can either choose the thundering Gondo Gorge or the ascent to “Furggu”.

Furggu variant: From Gabi, the trail climbs steadily towards Furggu. Across alpine meadows and past prayer sticks, through wooded and open terrain, this variant is very much in contrast to the Gondo Gorge. Once at “Furggu”, the descent begins through the Zwischbergental valley down to the border village of Gondo.
